How to Find Out Your MacBook Model & Specifications

If you are planning to sell your MacBook and need to find out its specification, this guide is for you. We will show you how to locate the following hardware information for your MacBook:

  • Types of MacBook
  • Screen Size
  • Processor / Chipset

Step 1: Open “About This Mac”

  1. Turn on your MacBook.
  2. Click the Apple menu on the top left corner of your screen.
  3. Select About This Mac.

Step 2: View the MacBook Summary

In the About This Mac window, you’ll see a summary of your MacBook key information, including: 

  • Types of MacBook
  • Screen Size
  • Processor / Chipset
  • Memory / Ram
  • macOS version

Step 3: Open System Report

Next, click on System Report within the About This Mac window.

Step 4: Check Hardware Overview

Under Hardware Overview, you can find information on:

MacBook Type:

  •  MacBook
  •  MacBook Air
  •  MacBook Pro 

Processor Type:

  • Intel Core i3, i5 or i7
  • M1
  • M2

Memory size: 

  • 4GB
  • 8GB
  • 16GB

Step 5: Check Graphic Card Information

Click on Graphics/Displays to view your MacBook’s graphic card information.

Step 6: Check Memory / RAM Details

For more detailed information on Memory / Ram, click on Memory. Here, you can find the total memory size installed in your MacBook.

Step 7: Check Battery Health

Another important information is the battery health of your MacBook.

Click on Power to find out: 

  • Cycle Count (The number of times your Macbook has been charged)
  • Condition (Shows if the battery is normal or faulty)
  • Maximum Capacity (The maximum percentage of charge the battery can hold — The higher the better.)

Step 8: Check Storage Capacity

Click on Storage to view your MaBook’s storage size.

Here you can see what the capacity of your storage is. Usually storage size include:

  • 64GB
  • 128GB
  • 256GB
  • 512GB
  • 1TB
  • 2TB 

Also it will show the type of storage is SSD or HDD. You can round off the capacity nearest to the standard storage size.
